McMinn County Man Indicted, charged with Trafficking for Commercial Sex Acts and Money Laundering

MCMINN COUNTY– After a year-long investigation by special agents assigned to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Human Trafficking Unit, a McMinn County man has been indicted and arrested.

In March of 2025, TBI agents received a tip alleging Exzayveon Smith (DOB 02/06/2001) was involved in human trafficking in the McMinn County area.

On September 15th, the McMinn County Grand Jury returned indictments, charging Smith with one count of Trafficking for Commercial Sex Acts and one count of Money Laundering. On October 7th, authorities located Smith in Bullhead City, Arizona. With assistance from the Bullhead City Police Department, Smith was arrested and booked into the Mohave County Jail in Kingman, Arizona. He is currently awaiting extradition to Tennessee, where he will be held on a $250,000 bond.

Information about human trafficking and TBI’s efforts to address this type of crime can be found online at www.ITHasToStop.com.  Anyone can report a suspected case of human trafficking by calling the Tennessee Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-855-55-TNHTH.

The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct, not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law.
