Rep. Kelly Keisling announces grant forPickett County Archives

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Kelly Keisling, R-Byrdstown, announced that the Pickett County Archives will receive a $4,120 Archives Development Program grant to support the preservation of local historical records. The funding was appropriated by the Tennessee General Assembly and is distributed through the Tennessee State Library & Archives.

“Archival collections are important to every community in Tennessee and are a testament to the strength of our heritage and historical identity,” said Secretary of State Tre Hargett. “With your help and good work, I look forward to improving the preservation of, and citizens’ access to, Tennessee’s historical records.”

Archives Development Program grants support local archival projects that may include archival supplies, shelving, part-time contract support, collection preservation and digitization initiatives. The program works with county and municipal governments to improve the storage and accessibility of local government records.

“Preserving Pickett County’s history means protecting the stories, records and heritage that have shaped our community for generations,” said Rep. Keisling. “I’m pleased to see these resources coming home to Pickett County and I appreciate Secretary Hargett and the Tennessee State Library & Archives for their continued commitment to preserving our local history and making these important records more accessible.”
