To honor Harry and the poem his wife, Sandy, wrote that became the song, High Mountain Breezes Music is joining Chapin Productions, the Harry Chapin Foundation and In Plain View Entertainment to carry forward the legacy and message at the heart of "Cats in the Cradle" with a special Father's Day promotion this year highlighting a new music video and documentary.
Cats in the Cradle: The Song That Changed Our Lives is now streaming free on Tubi and available on other streaming services and on DVD. The film features intimate conversations from Billy Joel, Pat Benatar, Judy Collins, Dee Snider, Darryl McDaniels, Mandy Patinkin, Robert Lamm, and Whitfield Crane, each sharing their own perspective on how the song shaped their lives and careers.
In addition to its national streaming debut, the film will be screened June 19-25 at the Cinema Arts Center in Huntington, New York. The film will also be shown at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame in Stony Brook, N.Y., on June 19. These screenings honor the places that shaped the Chapin family's story and legacy.
Along with the documentary, High Mountain Breezes Music also released an official tribute music video created in partnership with Chapin Productions, WhyHunger, Long Island Cares, and In Plain View Entertainment. The video shares rare family footage from the Chapins' life and time with their young children. It ends with Harry's message to students: "When in doubt, do something."
